What is the Zen Den?

Zen Den

The Zen Den is a space at Payson Junior High designed to support our students' emotional well-being. This unique space was made possible through a grant from Nebo School District, showing our commitment to your child's mental health and overall development. The Zen Den is a comfortable environment for your student to assist in self-regulation and emotions; you'll find emotional regulation support tools like fidget toys, calming music, cozy seating, soft lighting, and engaging puzzles, all aimed at helping students navigate the emotional challenges of junior high with resilience and focus. The Zen Den is like a retreat where we ensure your child is equipped to excel in all areas of life.

How can my student access the Zen Den?

The Zen Den is available to all students, but to enter, they must obtain a Zen Den Pass from their teacher, with each classroom having one pass available. To access this incredible space, students must leave their backpacks and phones in their classroom. After a brief check-in process, students are allotted 5-10 minutes in the Zen Den to help regulate their emotions before returning to class. It is advisable to utilize the Zen Den after attempting coping strategies.
