The Utah Parent Center (one of Nebo District's partners) has been receiving many calls from parents requesting information/resources for challenging behaviors with their children who have neurodiversities, behavior concerns, and various disabilities. They have decided to offer a free hybrid in-person AND live zoom workshop on March 9 through Nebo District/Utah Parent Center to help answer difficult behavior questions parents may have, and to help them know what they can do as parents. This workshop can be attended by anyone who is interested and will apply to both children and teens.
All Nebo schools will be open on the regular schedule for Thursday, February 23, 2023. We truly appreciate the city, county, state, and district personnel for their diligent work in our recent storm across our district. Please remember that school closures are rare. In most cases, school will remain in session even with Utah's climate. Because weather conditions may vary greatly in different neighborhoods and on different streets, we encourage parents to make attendance decisions for their own students.
This month our Peer Leadership Teams have partnered with Park View Elementary. They were trained by some staff at the elementary school in helping kids with letter sounds, sight words, nonsense words and math facts. Click the article to see pics of these students in action!
This month our 9th grade Peer Leadership Team helped incentivize student pride in our school. They passed out “Mecham Money” to teachers and staff who gave them to students who were demonstrating pride in their school. Teachers looked for students picking up trash, helping others, behaving well, donating food for the food drive and participating in spirit week. The students then redeemed the “Mecham Money” for Hispanic candy, drinks and snacks from the reward booth during lunch.
Mrs. Anderson's Biology classes enjoyed a lovely Valentine's week by dissecting animal hearts. We hope your heart has not been broken this week!
Parentguidance.org is facilitating mental health courses for parents in Nebo School District. The course this month is focusing on emotional regulation.
Each month in PJHS Peer leadership classes a group of students take the lead in a service project or activity. This month the 8th grade peer leadership class decided to make hygiene kits. Click this article to see some photos of students serving! They researched businesses, organizations, and people in the community that could donate items. They held Telethons during class where they each called different places assigned to them to ask for donations as well as reaching out on social media. It helped them with their communication skills while doing something good for those in need.
