National Junior Honor Society Applications Available
9th graders interested in opportunities that help you to develop your character and leadership skills, serve our communities and school, learn about scholarships, and improve your school experience, you'll want to join the National Junior Honors Society. If you are interested in National Junior Honors Society, please grab an application from Mrs. Glassford, Mrs. Michaels, or from the front office. They need to be turned in by 9/16/21. Please direct your questions to Mrs. Glassford or Mrs. Michaels.
Students who enter their number to get a second lunch in the cafeteria will be charged $4.00 for lunch number two. The government grant to subsidize lunch costs is only paid for one lunch. The second lunch will be charged at full price.
Join the Cross County Team
Any student interested in becoming part of an amazing athletic team and making some great friends for the coming school year, please consider joining the Cross County team. Meet after school in the main gym at 3:00 each afternoon to begin training for the season. The first meet is on September 9th!
PHS Cheer Clinic
The Payson High Cheerleaders are gearing up for their annual junior cheer clinic the week of Sept. 27th-30th. See this flier for information and look for the cheerleaders to be at PJHS on Wednesday after school handing out fliers as well.
Free Digital Art Class Available
If you like doing digital art or would like to learn how, there is an art class now available. It is Tuesday mornings in Springville. The class is taught by an artist who currently works for Lucasfilm Animation as an assistant technical director on their Star Wars tv shows. All skill levels are welcome. All you need is an iPad and a stylus (like an Apple Pencil). Technology Student Association
Mr. Hunter and Mr. Young will be running the TSA (Technology Student Association) each Tuesday from 2:40-3:30 in room E-89. TSA is a Career and Technical Student Organization like FFA. Its purpose is to help students have fun, make friends, become better leaders, and become more technologically literate. They will have the opportunity to compete in the Utah TSA competition in March in 37 different competitions. 9th grade students that take first place in the State competition can go to Louisville, Kentucky for the National competition. After School Clubs
If you’ve been dying to find groups to play chess or Dungeons and Dragons with, PJHS is the right place for you! The clubs will begin on Wednesday, Sep. 7th, in Mr. Wright’s room (C67) right after school until 4 pm. All students are invited to join whether they know how to play or not. See this flier.
Pictures Requested for Possible Use in the Yearbook
Our yearbook staff is requesting pictures of students who are participating in school athletics for possible use in the upcoming yearbook. These can be any school-sponsored sport for either 8th or 9th grade. Please send a digital copy of pictures to Ms. Hansen (kristina [dot] hansen [at] nebo [dot] edu)
High School Swim Team
Swim Team is holding "open swims" after school on the high school B days (Tues. and Thur. of this week) from 2:45-4:00p. Anyone who would like to try a couple of swim workouts and may be interested in joining the team is welcome. We need girls!!!! You should be proficient at basic swim skills and we will teach you stroke technique.
First Badminton Challenge of the Year
This will be taking place Wednesday, August 31st, after school. Never played before? No problem! Rackets and birds are provided. Bring a friend or come by yourself and make some new ones! Sign up with Mr. Archer today (eric [dot] archer [at] nebo [dot] edu)
Early Morning Basketball
Students who would like to participate in pick-up basketball games this year can show up on Fridays (or the last day of the week) @ 6 am. All are welcome. Enter through the South Gym doors.
Loafer Mountain Hike
We’re excited for the PJHS 15th annual Loafer Mountain Hike! If you like the wilderness and hiking all day then this activity is for you! All hikers need to qualify at 6 am on Aug. 31st or Sept. 1st. Space is limited, see Mr. Archer for details/to sign up!
Any student needing tutoring or a session with a teacher to make up detention time is welcome to join Ms. Wagner at 7:20 in the morning in her room, D-148. She is available Monday through Thursday each week. Here is her flier to download and save for a reminder.
Remember to get your school fees paid! All fees are due now so please pay, or contact the school to make payment arrangements. It's quick and easy on My School Fees, or may be paid at the Finance office in the school. Administrators in the front office will also accept fee waiver applications which can be accessed in English here and Spanish here.
