Orchestra Announcements
Payson HS Orchestras are now taking new sophomore students.  Make sure you sign up to be part of this fun and motivating program. There are three orchestras to consider. Philharmonic Orchestra needs no audition and is the largest. Chamber orchestra is a bit smaller and is joined on permission from Mrs. Stickney, the director.  PHS Symphony combines strings with wind, brass and percussion players. Email Mrs. Stickney for membership requirements and questions. Gentry.stickney [at] nebo.edu.
The Advanced Orchestra performed at the Nebo Jr. High Orchestra Festival Thursday, February 24th for an adjudication.  Our judge was a former PJHS orchestra member and student of Mrs. Petrucka, Anna Smith who teaches orchestra in Davis School District. She awarded us a superior rating (equivalent to an A) and then worked with us on the piece we performed and gave suggestions on some things we could do to improve it even more. She was fun and enthusiastic.
The Advanced Orchestra will be performing in concert along with MNMS and PHS orchestras this Wednesday March 2nd in the PHS auditorium at 7:00 p.m.  Each school will perform and then combine together into one huge orchestra to play “Ode to Joy Festival” as a grand finale.  The progress made through advancing to the different schools and levels will be encouraging and motivating to parents and students alike.
Come and meet Mrs. Stickney, the PHS orchestra director and get excited to be part of such a wonderful HS string program next fall!
