Captain’s Academy
The following students were selected by their coaches to represent their teams at a District Captain’s Academy. Ryan Ellsworth represented student council, Kasen Johnson represented boys’ cross country, Dana Chappa and Jocelyn Tucker represented girls’ cross country, and Cameron Stone represented golf.
At Captain’s Academy these students learned great lessons about sportsmanship, respect and competition. Dr. John Webb, who was an outstanding wrestler in high school and college, who has coached at all levels of wrestling and has been a real advocate for the sport, talked about how sports can truly become a lifelong love. He gave the students great insight into competition and love of sport and life!
Scott Mitchell, who led Springville High to a state football title, was an outstanding quarterback at the University of Utah and went on to play professional football for many years, gave a great motivational talk about life experiences and how they relate to sports.
Other speakers encouraged the students to be true leaders on the field and in the classroom.
