September's Mayor Award

Guadalupe Cortes received this month's Mayor's Award. She was elected LIA ( Latinos in Action) president  by her peers. Guadalupe has an excellent predisposition to help anybody who needs it. She sets her goals and successfully masters them. Her excellent sense of humor, charismatic personality, make her an excellent leadership choice . This last two weeks, she showed her leadership qualities and engaged with the whole classroom.  Everyday in class, I can see her using strategies and engage in doing assignments with her classmates.

National Junior Honor Society

The National Junior Honor Society is a nationally recognized program created  to encourage enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, to develop character, and to encourage good citizenship in the students of secondary schools.  All 9th graders with a GPA of 3.5 or higher are encourage to apply to join the National Junior Honor Society.  Besides looking great on a resume, it is an excellent opportunity to meet new friends, learn new skills, and perform service within the community.  Pick up an application in the libr

Uplift Parenting Conference

The Uplift Parenting Conference is the initiative of First Lady of Utah Jeanette Herbert. Five presenters will be giving Tips Talks. Presenters include: David Osmond, Brad Barton, Jessie Funk, Collin Kartchner, and Clay Olsen. Topics range from resiliency, addiction recovery, social media, and anxiety.
