¿Habla Español? Mrs. Debra Hulet does! Mrs. Hulet joined the faculty of PJHS this school year and will be teaching Spanish in the afternoons.

Mrs. Hulet elaborates, "I’m very excited to be at both Payson Junior High and Payson High School this year after a long break from teaching to focus on writing. I grew up in Las Vegas and received my B.A. in English Literature and Spanish Language at BYU. I lived in Venezuela for eight years where I taught some ESL (English as a Second Language) and did translation work.

After returning to the States, I taught Spanish at The Meadows Prep School in Vegas for three years and then both English and Spanish at South Jordan Middle School. At Payson Middle School, several years and two more children later (for a total of five children), I taught those same subjects for six years before the aforementioned writing break.

I was elated—and that’s a huge understatement—when Cedar Fort, Inc. published my young adult novel, Independence Rock, in 2011.

And now I’m blessed to be back doing one of the things I love very most—teaching. I enjoy all kinds of reading, singing and guitar, tennis, hiking, and Zumba. And I love spending time with my grandchildren."

We are thrilled to have her as part of our fabulous faculty!
