Fight the New Drug Assembly and Parent Info Meeting
PJHS is fortunate to have scheduled a student assembly with the national non-profit group Fight the New Drug which is a non-religious and non-legislative organization that exists to provide individuals the opportunity to make an informed decision regarding pornography by raising awareness on its harmful effects using only science, facts, and personal accounts. You can view more information from this organization, including getting access to their three part documentary, on their website at this link. The assembly will take place on Friday, Feb. 18th, at 8:35 am. We will have a modified assembly schedule of shortened classes for that day.
An information meeting for parents will take place the evening of Feb. 17th during Parent Teacher Conferences at 6:30 pm in the library. You can attend in person or join the meeting virtually at that time by viewing this YouTube link
Post-Valentine Dance
It’s time to get excited about our 3rd term dance! The student council has been working hard to prepare a Valentine-themed dance for February, and we’ve had to move it to Friday the 25th to avoid other scheduling conflicts. The dance will run from 6 to 8 pm in our PJHS gym. Remember that you need to have no more than 2 hours of owed detention time to be able to participate in extracurricular activities.
No Deliveries for Valentine’s Day
As much as we love all of our students at PJHS, we are unable to accept any Valentine deliveries for students on Monday, February 14th.  Please save any student Valentine deliveries for outside of school.
Parent Teacher Conference Dinner
It's time for our last parent teacher conferences of the year coming up on Thursday, Feb. 17th from 3:00 to 7:30. The PTA is grateful to all who have donated food so far this year for the teacher dinners. For this evening they are providing soup, chili and desserts. Please donate if you can. Please have your donations to the front office by 3pm on the 17th. If you donate soup, please label your name on your crock pot and we will make sure you get it back. You can sign up to donate food at this link. Thank you so much for your support!
PJHS Is In Need of a Wheelchair
We are in need of a wheelchair for the front office. Wheeling an adult or student in an office chair can be a dangerous option. Donation of a wheelchair would be fabulous! If anyone has a wheelchair that is just collecting dust in your backroom, we’d love to be able to put it to use. Please call our front office at 801-465-6015 if you’d like to donate a wheelchair.
2022 Nebo Stakeholder Survey
The Nebo Stakeholder Survey is ready to access for parents, students, and employees and will be open until Monday, Feb. 28th.  The link to the survey is found on the Nebo School District homepage, or you can click here. Students will be given time during their advisory period on Monday, Feb. 14th to complete the survey.  Parents have also been sent a link to the survey via email. This survey allows you to give feedback to the district on your child’s school and teachers. Please take a few minutes to share your valuable insight with us.
Students of the Month
9th grade:
Leah Sorenson----Where do I start with Leah? Leah is one of the nicest girls I know! I have never seen her be rude or disrespectful to anyone. She is always willing to let other students join in and makes them feel wanted and comfortable. She is always bubbly and happy, very rarely do you see her without a smile on her face. I love the confidence that she has to always be herself! Great job Leah, and keep on being YOU!  -Mrs. Paxton
Tyson Dean----Tyson works hard as a student and does really well in class. But even better than that, he is kind and friendly everyday! He is genuine and interesting! He makes so many cool things like necklaces and bracelets out of wire and I'm so impressed with his creativity! I wish I had 100 Tyson's in my classes but then there's only one as great as Tyson!  -Mrs. M. Hansen
8th grade:
Lexi Carter---- Lexi is in my 5th Period English Class and she is so much fun. She has a great attitude and the other students get along well with her. I can't imagine that class without her! She absolutely deserves to be a student of the month.  -Mr. Mormann
Junior Urzua---- Junior always comes to class with a smile, and positive attitude, ready to work. He always contributes positively to class discussions, and is quick to help anyone around him that needs help. He is a great example to his fellow students and a pleasure to work with! He really brightens up any room he is in with his kindness and enthusiasm!  -Mr. D. Smith
Battle of the Books
Our last "Battle of the Books" meeting is Tuesday 2/8 during both lunches.  The 2022 Payson Junior High "Battle of Books" competition will be held Thursday Feb. 17 in the library.  The 2022 Nebo School District "Battle of the Books" competition will be held at Salem Junior High Feb. 25.

WIDA English Testing continuing…
We are still working through our long list of students for the WIDA English Level Testing! Thank you to the staff, parents, and students for your continued support and patience, as we call them out of regular classes to take the tests. Each student needs to complete 4 parts to the test, and each part takes the time of about one class period: Reading, Listening, Writing, and Speaking. We’ll excuse their tardies and absences for the tests, but the students need to make up the work they miss–please help them!
