Students Slam It!

On Thursday, May 2, 2013, students from Payson Junior High School participated in a school wide Poetry Slam Competition. The students who advanced to this level were chosen by their peers and teachers to represent individual English classes-they “won” their class slam to compete in the school slam.

Carl Swenson was in for a big surprise when he was called down to the gym to handle an “emergency.” He walked into the room filled with students and faculty all applauding this wonderful educator. Principal Swenson was awarded the prestigious Huntsman Award for Excellence in Education on Monday, April 29, 2013.

An Evening of Musical Magic

The Fine Arts Department from PJHS proudly announces an upcoming choir concert, "Spring into Musicals." The performance will be located at the Payson High School Auditorium on Friday April 26th, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. Music selections have been chosen from broadway and movie musicals, including a beautiful medley from the ever-popular Les Miserables. Come show your support for these wonderful students who have worked very hard to prepare for this fun-filled, musical evening!

Every month, the faculty and staff at Payson Junior High choose one student from each grade and subject as the student of the month. These students are chosen based on dedication to their studies, behavior in the school, and being overall outstanding kids! Choir Concert Tonight!

On Wednesday February 27, 2013, Payson Junior High School Choirs will present their winter concert called “Free to Be.” The concert will take place at 7:00 pm in the Payson High School Auditorium. Performances from the 7th Grade Chorus, Concert Choir, and Chamber Singers will occur and will include a variety of music and styles! The students have worked hard to prepare for this concert and would love to share their talents with the public! Come enjoy a fun, musical evening!

Grizzlies Shine in Music Festival

On Wednesday, February 6th 2013, band students from Payson Junior High School competed in the Solo and Ensemble Festival. For two months prior to the festival, these dedicated musicians prepared one song to play in front of judges, hoping to please them enough to win a ribbon. Several students were able to do just that and wow the judges with their incredible skill, memorization, and musicianship!
